Driving digital transformation
How can a leading Pharmaceutical company instigate an ambitious digital transformation?
The Stem was hired by the Vice President of Digital Strategy for a top 25 Pharmaceutical company that had lagged in its digital investments in recent years. Their ambition, championed by the CEO, was to make up for lost time and design a digital transformation plan that would allow the company to rapidly accelerate its digital leadership. The Stem’s mandate was to support the development of the commercial portion of the plan, and to support the execution of key initiatives.
Over the span of 6 months, Stem consultants helped to fashion and secure leadership commitment to a three year global enterprise digital transformation strategy that included prioritized objectives, priority initiatives organized by strategic pillar, and proposed, a launch roadmap and proposed organizational design changes.
The plan included signature initiatives encompassing patient-centricity, healthcare provider engagement, data-driven innovation, business process, as well as foundation-building initiatives covering content and channel excellence, insights and analytics, talent development and culture change.
The Stem also helped translate planning into action by supporting execution of several strategic initiatives including the creation of standardized digital strategy processes, digital guidelines creation, re-designing medical/ legal approvals for digital, and the creation of a global Web site development platform.
